Our client is a leading manufacturer and distributor of food packaging products, with business operations spread across multiple locations in the U.S. and Canada. Their business revolves around providing services to retail, food service, and food processing industry with a portfolio of high quality storage, container, and food tray products.
The biggest challenge, the client was facing was that their homegrown Transportation Management System (TMS), FreightLogic was to become defunct from January 2013. This meant that they needed to find an alternative to their TMS on a priority basis. While searching for a new TMS, the client's main criterion was that it should be compatible with their business processes. Other key objectives were to automate transportation planning which was largely a manual and paper based process in their existing TMS and to strengthen their reporting and analytics on carriers.
The Client was using Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) for Order Management, Purchasing, and Accounts Payable processes and thus wanted a vendor who could provide multiple solutions to address their TMS and integration needs and at the same time would help them build and strengthen their internal capabilities and knowledge on the new TMS solution.
The client had shortlisted a few vendors and solutions including Sterling Commerce and a few other hosted TMS products available in market. However, Birlasoft partnered with Oracle and through a sales cycle call convinced the client of our capabilities and expertise in providing a solution that would address all their business woes and help them enhance their productivity.
The client was impressed with our credentials, business assessment and plan of action to address and improve their TMS scenario and chose us over the other vendors and solutions.

Birlasoft is currently providing support to the client after successfully implementing the OTM solution and enabling the transport intelligence. The client is extremely pleased with the implementation and their further objective is to bring more carriers on-board with EDI and to increase the automation in the system.
