The Community initiatives at Birlasoft is the commitment of the business to contribute to sustainable economic development, working with employees, their families, the local community and society at large to improve their quality of life. Birlasoft's Community initiatives aligns their corporate goals with those of society. Birlasoft understands there's more to being a part of community than just running a business. We believe in giving back to the society where we live, work and play. Keeping this ideology, as part of our "Community initiatives" program, Birlasoft has identified few themes for improvement and upliftment of the society we serve. The thematic area of initiatives are centered on environment, women and child health & education; the strong pillars of sustainability.
As the world grapples with the global pandemic, the Birlasoft for Community team partnered with Under The Tree (UTT) India - a Noida-based NGO to support vulnerable communities and daily-wage workers. Food and hygiene kits were donated to 1000 + daily-wagers and their families in and around Sector-135 in Noida, (India). Birlasoft is committed towards sustaining the lives of these communities as we find ways and means of preventing the spread of this virulent virus.

Community Initiatives Policy
Birlasoft's Community initiatives policy is based on "Triple Bottom Line Theory" which focuses on the economic , social and environment sustainability. Individual Social Responsibility is the main component of Birlasoft's Community initiatives practices.
Birlasoft is having policies and procedures in place which integrate social, environmental, ethical and human rights into business operations and core strategy in close collaboration with stakeholders.
Projects
The projects and the programs of Birlasoft Community initiative, aims to provide "Sustainable livelihood" to the society we live. To achieve this goal, Birlasoft is working on innovative projects on environment; education, health and development of children and women. In accordance to the specified activities mentioned under the Companies Act 2014 (the CSR rules), and any amendments thereof, Community initiatives in Birlasoft are carried under following thematic areas.
Environmental Sustainability
"Be a part of the solution, not a part of the Pollution"
The goal of environmental sustainability is to conserve natural resources and to develop alternate sources. Pollution is the byproduct of 19th Century industrial revolution which occurs when the natural environment fails to perform the mechanism of destroying unwanted element which harms or damages ecosystem. Air pollution is the 5th leading cause of death in India. Pollution, in any form is hazardous for the society and actions have to be taken to minimize the pollution.
Project Shodhan was launched in July 2017 with the aim to reduce air pollution from crop residue burning in the villages of Punjab, Haryana, UP and Rajasthan. Under this project Birlasoft made farmers aware about the ill-effects of stubble burning and provided the sustainable straw management solution. Through Birlasoft flagship project Shodhan along with minimizing air pollution we also emphasize on conservation of air and soil, rural development, health of farmers and their families. Till date we have covered 50 villages of Haryana and Punjab. Birlasoft won 'SABERA', Social and Business Enterprise Responsible Award for two consecutive years in the "Paryavaran" category.
Women and Child Development
"Enabling better tomorrow"
Birlasoft is committed to the cause of child care, health and development which has been identified as one of the core thematic interventions. We are working on a projects to help out-of-school children and women. In these projects we are providing basic life skills, education to under-privileged children and women. Project 'Disha' aim is to provide better tomorrow to the children to education and health and Project 'e-vidya' focuses on the skill development and the employability of women.
National Disaster Relief Fund Implementation
"Let us fight it together"
There is no country that is immune from disaster. Disaster interrupts essential services, such as health care, electricity, water, sewage clearance , garbage removal, transportation and communications. The interruption can seriously affect the health, social and economic networks of local communities and country. Disasters have a major and long-lasting impact on people even after the immediate effect has been mitigated.
Birlasoft is a responsible company which believes to stand through the thick and thin period of our nation. Birlasoft Employees whole heartedly support in mounting a humanitarian response to disasters by contributing to the best of their level. Through joint efforts of civil society, activist groups, Government and corporate sector we aim to reach avenues for enhancing National Resilience.
