Customer Overview

Our customer is the largest third party provider of maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services and technical solutions for the commercial aviation industry in the Middle East. With a growing international and multi-disciplined workforce of over 2,000 employees, our customer manages a customer portfolio that spans the globe, and provides comprehensive solutions including airframe (heavy, line, and base), engine and component repair and overhaul services, and technical support encompassing engineering, planning, and material services.

Business Challenges

With services and offerings that cater to a global demand, the biggest problem that our customer has is a huge inventory of over 500,000 components that needs to classified, monitored and managed. Controlling the import and export functions manually for such a huge inventory is an almost impossible task.

The other challenges that the customer faced were reliance on manual processes for restricted party screening, lack of set processes for license management as the parameters and conditions varied for each license, and lack of automated alerts to avoid delays in delivery and/or penalties.

Birlasoft Solution

The customer approached us to address these challenges and after collaborative discussions and an initial assessment, Birlasoft realized that the solution to address customer's major problem areas is to provide visibility into the end user and customer requirements.

Thus, Birlasoft implemented the Oracle Global Trade Management (GTM) Solution for the customer.

Oracle GTM is a unique global compliance solution that allows companies of all sizes and in all geographies to centrally manage their global trade operations. And, since it was developed as an integrated component of Oracle's logistics suite, GTM enables companies to optimize, automate, and monitor cross-border transactions. This implementation has enabled our customer to manage trade compliance from a single global perspective with central control, but local execution.

Birlasoft provided the functional, technical, and project management expertise to the customer and went live with this implementation on time and in budget. Birlasoft also helped them to identify certain process changes for smooth operations and designed the system for faster updates on transactions. This facilitates ease of use and understanding for export control manager.
