Our customer is one of the largest industrial gases company in the world and is into producing, selling and distributing atmospheric, process and specialty gases and high-performance surface coatings.

Business Challenges

The company had a unique requirement of migrating business from legacy system into JD Edwards 9.0 involving many complex interim interfaces and dual data maintenance. The other challenges faced were as follows:

  • Many complex processes were involved such as cylinder management, pricing and point of sale
  • The company leveraged the existing custom container management system which needed to be reviewed and customized for new requirements
  • Manage the end-to-end packaging process for customers, including artwork and label design, regulatory requirements support, call center activities, and distribution
  • Multiple business and regions share same JDE instance and change management was key for the project
  • Many process gaps, including complex interface designs and workflows, between legacy and JD Edwards 9.0 were identified and customized in JD Edwards
  • Minimal cutover window for data extraction, migration and validation was to be planned

The company approached us to help them in technical expertise, migrating the JD Edwards environment from legacy system into JD Edwards 9.0. Birlasoft leveraged migration expertise to simplify processes, streamline operations and bring efficiencies. Birlasoft was part of the planned approach including elaboration phase to complete the gap analysis, process flows and data migration mapping from legacy system.

The construction phase comprised of mapping the new processes, configuration, customization for gaps, data migration, Interfaces and BI reporting.

Birlasoft's Oracle knowledge and industry expertise helped the company customize around the modules - General Ledger, Project accounting, Fixed Asset accounting, Procurement (Non inventory and Inventory), Vendor management, customer management, Order to cash, Accounts Receivables, Distribution, Cylinder management and inventory management in two different phases. All phases go lives and post go live support were successful.
