Paul Global Benefits, Inc. (PGB) is a US-based specialized, global employee benefits consulting firm. They provide innovative and impactful solutions to enhance the corporate employee benefit programs for clients and their employees around the world.

Business Objectives

PGB, with 20 years of experience in employee benefits, wanted to –

The Solution

PGB partnered with Birlasoft to develop BeneShark, its next-generation Online benefits and communication portal that manages benefits, compliance and more. We (Birlasoft) leveraged our digital consulting and design thinking led product development approach, to understand PGB’s and their customer’s needs.

The users of this portal are employees, employers and third-party brokers; hence, customer experience, and convenience and speed in completing intended tasks was a very critical element. BeneShark is an intuitive platform that has been built keeping in mind needs of all its users –

  • Providing employees an online shopping type experience to compare, buy and manage their own benefit programs in a smooth and easy way
  • Automating important administrative tasks to streamline operations and save costs
  • Helping HR to make more effective strategies by enabling analysis of benefits data
  • Providing flexible and convenient ways for brokers to manage their benefits enrollment

The BeneShark online dashboard, simplifies work related to benefits processes while reducing costs. It provides self-service capabilities and seamless integration between all parties involved. Beneshark currently manages employee benefits for 20,000 plus members, and premiums in excess of $80m. As a benefits marketplace, BeneShark offers pre-built templates and is fully integrated with products from industry leading ancillary carriers.

Our team of experts implemented a new and highly scalable solution using based on Microsoft Azure enabling the following features:

  • Azure App Service Plan and App Service for PGB website deployment to scale on demand
  • Azure Logic App to help seamless integration with the insurance carrier
  • Benefit setup and calculation rule engine deployed as Azure Web Job to achieve accurate calculation and performance
  • Azure technology stack to ensure ease of deployment and maintenance of application

The technology stack used for the Solution includes:

  • Microsoft .NET Platform for developer – ASP.Net MVC, C#, javascript, jquery, HTML, CSS
  • App Service Plan & App Service – Web Application
  • Azure Web Jobs – Background job in C#
