New Delhi, India, December 22, 2016: KPIT Technologies (BSE: 532400; NSE: KPIT), a global technology company specializing in IT consulting and product engineering and a pioneer in social impact projects, today announced that it has been conferred with the prestigious “Special Jury Commendation” award for its sustainable water conservation project at the recently concluded FICCI CSR Awards 2015-16, held in New Delhi.
The project titled “Water Conservation through mass volunteering” was selected by members of the jury which included eminent business and social-change personalities and was chaired by Mr. M. Damodaran (ex-SEBI Chairman). A total of 139 pan-India projects were received out of which 39 were merited for the special presentation round. The winners were declared within the particular categories outlined by the jury. KPIT was one among the two companies who were selected for the special jury award and the jury reserved appreciation for KPIT’s volunteering model and the remote terrain selected for the project.

As a non-government, not-for-profit organization, the apex body is involved in sector specific business policy consensus building, and business promotion and networking, along with extending support and promotion towards investments in technology, social impact, environment and educational initiatives.
KPIT, in association with renowned Pune-based voluntary organization ‘Jnana Prabodhini,’ implemented the water conservation project, operational since 2012, acting as a change agent for over 25 villages within the states of Maharashtra and Karnataka. 15,000 villagers and farmers, along with 5,000 cattle stock have benefitted from this project which helped conserve 5 crores litres of water through the voluntary support of more than 1,000 KPIT employees.
On receiving the award, Ravi Pandit, Co-Founder, Group CEO & Chairman said, “KPIT is committed towards bringing a positive change in the society, by engaging its employees to volunteer and lead. The water conservation project was born out of the need to allow farmers, in the region, to be less dependent on monsoons, support the increased yield of crop by making lands more irrigable and address the shortage of drinking water in villages.”
The award was given by Mr. Narendra Singh Tomar, Minister for Rural Development to Piyush Gupta (Associate Vice President, SAP Business Unit, KPIT) and Vijay Lakhanpal (Associate Vice President, SAP Business Unit, KPIT) at the special award ceremony hosted for the winners. The award ceremony was chaired by Padma Bhushan Mrs. Rajashree Birla, FICCI CSR and Community Development Committee Chairperson and graced by the presence of celebrity scientist and education reformist, Mr. Sonam Wangchuk, better known for his innovative ‘Ice Stupas.’
