The customer is a drilling contractor providing worldwide offshore drilling services to the Oil and Gas industry.
Business Challenges
Voice servers and gateway were in the corporate office and there were frequent disconnections, low uptime and this resulted in high volume of tickets.
There was also poor support from existing ISPs and high cost of existing DIDs.
Birlasoft Solution
The Voice servers (CUCM) in the corporate office were moved to Partner Tier 3 DCs in US and in UK. Birlasoft was involved in taking backup, shipping, racking, setting up, configuration and migration of the IP phones. Around 400 IP phones across the customer locations and rigs were reconfigured to the new setup. The Voice gateways and Wireless phones were migrated to the 2 DCs.
The ISPs also got changed. Analog PBX was earlier used for Internal calling only. It was cross connected with the CUCM and outside dialing was enabled.
