Customer Overview
The customer is a leading global manufacturer and distributor of non-acute medical equipment and respiratory products, with special focus on wheelchairs. Headquartered in the U.S. and with manufacturing facilities in North America, Europe and Asia Pacific regions, the company has presence in 22 countries across the globe. The product offerings also include mobility scooters, walkers, pressure care and positioning products.
Business Challenges
Despite its size and scale of operations, the company’s plans for expansion and agility were stymied by multiple challenges. They struggled with legacy hardware that led to exorbitant costs for maintaining several data centers and multiple ERP systems with disparate processes and tools used across the different regions. In addition, there were plethora of IT contracts globally to be managed. The customer wanted a partner who could, in a timely and cost-efficient manner, take over the complete Applications and Infrastructure operations and provide “IT as a service (ITaaS)”.
Birlasoft Solution
The Birlasoft solution entailed taking over complete Applications and Infrastructure assets and operations from the customer and the various incumbent vendors. The disparate process across the globe were standardized. Birlasoft iSight tools platform was set up to ensure consolidation and standardization of tools globally and round-the-clock monitoring of infrastructure globally was set up. As a part of the Transformation initiatives, Birlasoft is involved in DC consolidation and has significantly reduced the DC footprint and established SAP S&D setup on Azure with integrations to existing Legacy ERP modules. The Info security was strengthened across the layers and legacy and out-of-support hardware was refreshed. Over 500 existing IT contracts globally were novated to Birlasoft.
The solutions planned and implemented by Birlasoft were geared towards injecting agility and introducing visibility across processes.
