Customer Overview
The customer is a large global medical devices manufacturer with operations in over 150 countries. As a part of its digital transformation agenda, the organization sought to modernize its data center footprint and transition to a scalable, secure, and future‑ready cloud infrastructure.
Business Challenges
A significant portion of the customer’s hardware—nearly 60%—had reached end‑of‑life, creating risks related to stability, security, and compliance. Additionally, nearly 25% of infrastructure capacity was unused, indicating inefficiencies in resource utilization. Distributed workloads across small global sites contributed to high VMware licensing costs. The absence of automation and orchestration capabilities also increased manual overhead and operational delays.
The Solution
Birlasoft executed a comprehensive assessment to finalize application disposition and planned the migration of 2,250 virtual servers across ten global data centers. The engagement included re‑platforming and upgrading to the latest operating systems, coordinating closely with application owners to assess complexity, and structuring the migration waves.
Comprehensive planning and complex dependency de-tangling of business, data and infrastructure services using Birlasoft’s MGO Platform was done. Birlasoft Orion framework enabled Faster GTM & TTM utilizing multiple tech-stacks like Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins, GenAI & Agentic AI with Azure AI Foundry, Git-hub & Copilot and Power platform. The team executed end‑to‑end migration activities, including pre‑ and post‑migration testing, performance validation, security checks, documentation, and hypercare support. This ensured full compatibility and consistent data handling across integrated cloud services, ITSM and various third-party tools and platforms.
