The customer is a drilling contractor providing worldwide offshore drilling services to the Oil and Gas industry with presence across 15 countries.
Business Challenges
Customer was looking to upgrade their Linux environment and Databases to N/N-1 version. There was vulnerability risk due to EOSL Operating systems and Databases. There were security compliance issues, poor performance, reduced reliability, inability to move to Cloud Infrastructure and no support from OEMs/Product Owners for EOSL Operating systems and Databases.
Birlasoft Solution
Birlasoft did Assessment & Discovery exercise to identify the EOSL components and created a mitigation plan. We created Server OS / DB upgrade roadmap plan along with the Apps team and conducted multiple workshops with Apps team to assess each component of the Applications including OS, DBs, Services and web/app services.
We performed in-place upgrade for Linux (RHEL and OEL) to application compatible versions and re-platformed Solaris to OEL operating system and Oracle to Postgres Database.
