In 1995, when the C K Birla group launched Birlasoft, it was with a vision of creating one of the finest software houses, based out of India, which would stand out as a hallmark of excellence and quality in the global theatre. Set on this mission, Birlasoft aligned itself to the core values of the business ethics set by the C K Birla group and introduced formal quality programs to align its products, services and employees under the excellence banner. Birlasoft's processes have evolved around industry-best frameworks such as CMM, Six Sigma, ISO, and PCMM. Birlasoft's Quality Framework

In today's global marketplace, people are the greatest resource. To achieve the most important goals on a consistent basis, people bring their knowledge, skills, and energy together to help the organization produce 'solution-focused' leaders and managers who invariably get the job done. Early in its journey, Birlasoft assessed its core aspects of business operations: leadership, strategic planning, customer and market focus, human resource focus, process management, business results & measurement, analysis and knowledge management. It then adopted world-class standards & practices and improvement methodologies like Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, etc, to amplify its delivery capability & customer satisfaction.

Agile, Six Sigma, ISO, ITIL and CMMI are all closely embedded in the daily work management practices of the organization and are integrated into the Quality Management System (QMS).

The process is administered by the in-house Business Excellence Unit, set up in 1998, to guide and assess Birlasoft on the methodology of excellence. Mandated to help the company achieve its business objectives through specific processes, it introduced the SPICE vision in [year].

As per the policy, Birlasoft continuously strives to exceed the expectations of its customers by providing defect-free products, services and solutions, on time and within budgeted cost. It also endeavors to nurture an environment where trust, fairness and integrity flourish. The vision is not limited to Organizational Excellence, through maximizing performances of team members, alone. It goes deeper towards moving up personal effectiveness and life satisfaction that in turn leads towards a holistic enjoyable, productive environment while decreasing confusion, wasted time, and lack of vision.

Evaluation process

Birlasoft participates in regular external assessments. The idea is to subject them to an assessment, based on the excellence parameters, embedded in the standards.

Birlasoft is committed to maintaining high maturity standards in service offerings and products, as well as, in internal processes and people management. The fact that Birlasoft has consistently been assessed and certified on critical quality models, generic and domain specific, bears testimony to the effectiveness of the QMS. The result-driven scoring mechanism enables the organization to track its progress over time, and ensures that it keeps improving consistently.
